Great views at Woody's Rum Bar in Fells Point

I’m always on the hunt for the best views in Baltimore, so when I read that Woody’s had been recognized by Travel and Leisure magazine as one of America’s best outdoor bars, I had to check it out.

The bar is located in Fells Point on Broadway. Despite being on the main stretch of shops in Fells Point, it’s a bit hidden because the entrance is a small door tucked between two shops. The door opens to a set of stairs that take you up to some of the best views in the city.

The top level of the bar has open windows that look out over the water, making it the perfect spot for drinks and appetizers, or a light lunch/dinner. Honestly, I wasn’t a big fan of the tiki bar/beach theme, but I wasn’t looking at the décor because the view was so great.

My boyfriend and I both got the same exact meal, which I regret because I wish we had tried a few things on the menu, but there’s always next time.

We both ordered a Mai Tai ($8), this was my first Mai Tai, but I thought it was really good. Unlike a lot of bars I’ve been to recently, they didn’t water it down with a bunch of juice and ice, which I appreciated.

For our meal we ordered the Jamaican Jerk marinated chicken tacos, which were served with a honey-lime mango salsa, jicama jalapeño slaw and fried plantain ($11). The tacos were recommended by our server and were good, but not great, I thought the chicken was a bit overcooked, and they weren’t served with guacamole, which I consider a real travesty no matter where I am.

I’m not sure I would go back again for a full meal, but the views are awesome, so I would definitely return for drinks—especially if it was during one of their happy hours. Woody’s hosts happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 – 7 p.m., during which they offer $3 well drinks, $4 draft beers and $5 glasses of wine. They also have daily specials, including brunch and bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys on Saturdays and Sundays.
